About us

Norwegian Adventure Guides (NAG) is a professional guide company established by IFMGA certified Gorm Gunleiksrud and Norwegian Adventure Company. We are certified mountain guides who are experts in guiding in the mountains, in education and in safety on snow, mountains and ice. Among our guides we also have specialist certified mountain bike guides and nature guides from the University of Tromsø.

We are based in Northern Norway with a main focus and local competence in the areas of Lofoten, Lyngen, Senja, Svalbard, Kvaløya, Finnmark, Andørja, Steigen, Bodø and Tromsø , but can offer guiding all over Norway.

Gorm Gunleiksrud is the Managing Director of Norwegian Adventure Guides and is a certified IFMGA (International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations) mountain guide through Nortind. He has extensive experience in professional guiding, avalanche training and other relevant training.

Our guides are all certified, knowledgeable and experts on climbing, glacier hiking, mountain skiing, steep skiing, avalanche assessment, hiking and mountain biking. It goes without saying they also have expertise in local traditions and culture.

Our mountain guides are internationally trained (IVBV / UIAGM / IFMGA) and have the highest professional qualifications in mountain sports. Through our expertise and local knowledge, we take care of what you need to have a positive, educational and safe experience in the mountains. We want you to concentrate on enjoying northern nature and the adventure while we take care of the rest.

Quality control - mountain professionals

There are many experienced guides in Norway. In co-operation with Norwegian Adventure Company, Norwegian Adventure Guides has chosen to focus on quality and use certified mountain guides in our operations. In Norway, Norske Tindevegledere NORTIND – (Norwegian Mountain Guides) is the only representative of the international mountain guide association IFMGA / IVBV (International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations).

NORTIND certifies mountain guides according to IFMGA's international standards. This organisation is responsible for organising, further educating and refreshing the skills of mountain guides in Norway.

Certified mountain guides are qualified to guide and lead in challenging mountain terrain and other aspects of active outdoor life. They are therefore experts in:

Summit ski tours

Getting to the mountain summit with ocean views on all sides is an incredible experience. We have extensive experience tailoring tours for all ability levels. Feel free to combine the mountain trip with the sea route; travelling by rib, or one of the larger vessels we use on our adventures , and stay in some of the great locations and boutique hotels we work with.

Climbing

The mountains rise straight out of the sea. The routes start down at the shoreline. As you climb you hear the waves and look down at the turquoise blue sea. Climbing in Northern Norway is incomparable, like being in paradise. In the north you will find some of the most unusual climbing areas in the world. Views of the Vestfjorden and blue mountains from Stetind to Steigen are unforgettable.

Lofoten's dramatic mountain range overlooks the infinite horizon and sky. If you haven’t climbed in Northern Norway, you are in for a mind-blowing treat.

Mountain biking

Take pleasure in the freedom of riding a mountain bike, whether you are roaming on a forest trail, tackling steep mountain terrain from summit to sea or biking in open countryside. Our select team of guides includes both local and certified mountain bike guides who will showcase exceptional routes with magnificent sea views.

For mountain biking, a certified guide is used along with local guides. The certification has been established to set standards for European guides for mountain biking and is monitored by the European Organisation of Mountain Bike Instructor-Guides (EO-MTBing).

Hiking

Northern Norway is a true playground offering spectacular hiking for all levels. And the views; world class! Surrounded by deep blue fjords, Caribbean-style beaches hiking in the north is incredibly distinctive. We find hiking trails for all ages, abilities and aspirations. With our highly experienced guides it is easy to get to the best places in the north.

For easy hikes that do not require high safety levels, our IFMGA certified guides are used to lead the operations along with nature guides from the University of Tromsø. The nature guides will be able to convey local and regional history, traditions, nature use and put local conditions into a global environmental perspective.
